Anatomy of a WurliTzer Theatre Pipe Organ

SHIPPING

This is what a 2/5 WurliTzer looks like inside a 20 foot shipping container - after a trip half way around the world.

There is room for several more ranks worth of organ.

Some of the main trunking did move during the trip but the ropes prevented it from moving far enough to do any damage. Nothing else appeared to have moved at all.

Note the rope under the front of the console. This prevents the console which is inherently top heavy from tipping forward.

Unfortunately the only tie points in a container are along the top of the side walls so everything that needs to be tied can only be tied from above.

Last into the container were the blower and pedal board, after the console and switch stack and relay with assorted timber filling the space between.
