The Chicago Theatre had several different consoles over the years.
The truth is that this was the original FIRST console at the Chicago Theatre on the Right side of the pit.
This is the console that fell off the lift and was damaged.
It was sold to organist "AL CARNEY" for his studio organ that ended up installed at the St Mary Of the
Lakes Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois where it was extensively redone by the late organist, John Seng.
It's interesting to note that at the Chicago Theatre, BOTH consoles had separate relays.
Both consoles were totally independent of one an other.
The original relay room is located directly under the second console's relay on the left side of the theatre.
Al Carney purchased the first console and first relay, leaving the later, unharmed, console and relay still in the Chicago Theatre.
Carney used the Chicago console in his installation but, opted to build a new relay system for his 14 rank spec.
Nobody knows where the original Chicago relays ended up and nobody ever asked Pete Howell what he did with them
before he died some years ago.
If you go to the Chicago....you can stand in the space where the original relay was.
You can see the dirt outlines on the walls where various components were located.
In the early 30's...the actual Marbro Theatre slave console was moved to the Chicago when the Sellers played there.
It was connected to the key and piston inputs from the other relay but, was indeed a slave to the console on the left .
The Marbro slave had no stop contacts or pneumatic actions in it.
