Donation announcement:
Richard E. Loderhose and family are making the donation of their New York Paramount Studio Wurlitzer, currently installed in the Bay Theatre, Seal Beach, CA, to Beatitudes Campus, Phoenix, AZ.

The gift is being given as a part of "Farewell to the Bay Theatre Wurlitzer" Concert on June 23rd, 2007, at the Bay Theatre in Seal Beach, CA.

After a year of searching and negotiating, Rena Firestone, daughter of Richard E. Loderhose, and Mr. Loderhose have chosen Beatitudes Campus, a retirement village consisting of 700 residents, in Phoenix, AZ, to be the recipients of their 4-manual, 49-rank Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ. The organ will be installed in the Everett Luther Life Center, a multiple purpose room, and will become a daily part of the life of the residents. Not only will the Wurlitzer be played for their church services, but it will play dinner music for the dining room which is adjacent, concerts, Sunday Tea Dances, and silent films.

The Valley of the Sun ATOS chapter will be playing a part in the organ’s use as they will use it for club meetings, concerts, and feature it during their long running Silent Sundays Series. All of these activities will both enrich the lives of the residents as well as bring the community to the Beatitudes Campus.

Installation Timeline:
It is anticipated that the installation of the Wurlitzer will begin during the Phase 2 project of Campus Redevelopment. As for a timeline, it is projected that Phase 1 will be finished by Fall, 2009. They are already ahead of the schedule, and baring delays, will be ready to start Phase 2 in early 2010. During the up-coming two to three years, the organ will undergo a complete rebuilding and cosmetic refinishing. It will be installed as a complete instrument, as it is in the Bay Theatre. There will be minor changes to accommodate the new installation, which will be two chambers and a percussion chamber, as opposed to its current installation in three chambers and percussion chamber. In the future there will be a link on the Beatitudes Campus website showing pictures and an update on the progress of rebuilding and installation in the Life Center.
