June, 2006 annual meeting of the MTOS

Sunday, June 18, 2006, at Grace Baptist Church

Refreshments were set out to tempt the palate.

Folks from MTOS and CFTOS enjoyed visiting together.

MTOS president Chuck Pierson presided.  Cliff Shaffer, CFTOS president (shown speaking here), reported on the recent ATOS convention co-hosted by MTOS and CFTOS.

Bob Davidson, recently-elected president of ATOS, spoke to the local chapters represented at the meeting.

2006 ATOS Annual Convention
Co-hosted by the Central Florida and Manasota Chapters

Friday, May 26, 2006, at Grace Baptist Church

1. Early arrivals to Grace Baptist Church were treated to the sight of our local Sandhill Cranes.

2. Soon after 9:00 a.m. the busses arrived from Tampa with the convention folks.

3. John Fischer greets new arrivals.

4. Joanne Pierson helps conventioneers with their materials.

5. Everyone began to assemble for the concerts and greeted old friends.

6. The Grace Baptist Church sanctuary looked good for the convention.

7. Lew Williams began the series at GBC with a 1-1/2 hour concert.

9. Ken Double, of ATOS, served as master of ceremonies throughout the convention.

11. David Gray, a young artist from Scotland, charmed the audience and gave a wonderful concert.

12. The other young artist to appear, Donnie Rankin, is shown here with Ken Double.  Donnie, too, impressed the audience with a well-done concert.

13. Richard Hills, hailing from the U.K., amused and delighted the audience with his stage patter as well as with his 1-1/2 hour concert.

15. At 5:00 p.m. sharp, the dinner busses gathered to take everyone to Michael's on East for sumptuous fare.

16. For the big evening concert, Jalani Eddington performed, joined for the middle of the program by the Florida Brass Quintet.

Saturday, May 27, 2006, trips to Dunedin and Lakeland
18. Aboard one of the busses, leaving Tampa for Dunedin, Florida. 19. Folks were able to visit, read, or relax aboard the comfortable busses.
20. Palm trees and beautiful water scenes rushed by as we crossed the Courtney Campbell Causeway. 21.  On arriving at the Kirk in Dunedin, we strolled by its beautiful little courtyard garden.
22. Here's the cool breezeway leading to the sanctuary. 23.  The Dunedin Kirk was all aglow for us, painting a colorful picture.
24. Shown here is Terry Charles, curator for the Kirk, introducing it. 25. Right on cue, Ken Double makes another appearance as our M.C.
26. The lovely and talented Donna Parker delighted the audience with her concert. 27. Donna Parker, on the organ, was joined by Jalani Eddington, on the piano, for a duet.
28. The evening outing was a trip over to Lakeland, to the Polk Theatre. 29. The Polk Theatre's stage from the rear of the hall.

Sunday, May 28, 2006, in Tampa

34. Russell Holmes provided the morning concert. 35. Rosa Rio, recognized for special honor by ATOS, gave a mini-concert, then accompanied a silent movie.
36. Shown here is the beautiful stage of the Tampa Theatre. 37. Ken Double in his tux, playing the M.C. for the evening concert.
38. The concert for the evening was performed by Ron Rhode, capping off a great ATOS annual convention.
