2017 Sooner State ATOS Events

January 20th was our tribute to the vintage music of the 1920s and 1930s with performances on our equally vintage instruments by our talented local musicians (l to r) Wes Eaton, Paula Hackler, Bill Rowland, Carolyn Craft, Phil Judkins, and Lynda Ramsey.

Our February program was our annual winter Silent Film, but the meeting night was changed because of scheduling changes at TTC, on February 24th instead of the Third Friday (the same in March) and enjoyed the great silent movie The Gold Rush starring Charlie Chaplin.

On March 24 we presented our annual Gospel Music Night featuring our local performers on our organ and 114-year-old piano.

April continued the unusual practice of switching from the Third Friday to the Fourth, so on April 28th instead of the Third Friday we enjoyed yet another Silent Movie Night, this time in conjunction with the Tulsa Chapter of the American Guild of Organists where we screened the 1927 classic Cecil B. DeMille "King of Kings." It was free admission as always, and refreshments were served at intermission.

Our May 29th program, “Theatre Pipe Organ 101,” went on as scheduled despite an afternoon and evening of thunderstorms and rain.

June was Silent Movie Time once again on the 16th and we showed three two-reel comedies, accompanied on the vintage piano and theatre pipe organ by three local artists: Phil Judkins, Lynda Ramsey and Bill Rowland, accompanying movies starring Our Gang (Hal Roach’s Little Rascals), Buster Keaton, and Charlie Chaplin.

July's program was very special again, "Summer In America" with local artists and local guest performers.

Our August program was our annual meeting with the German American Society of Tulsa (GAST) at their venue with their vintage Geneva pipe organ and the GAST Blaskapelle band, great entertainment as always!

Our program on September 15 was very special, indeed, as we welcomed back virtuoso organist Bob Heil who gave a splendid concert on our theatre pipe organ!

On October 20 we featured our Fall Silent Movie event with the fabulous 1919 silent film  "The Flying Fleet starring Ramon Novarro, accompanied by our 1928 theatre pipe organ!

November was our annual Holiday Party, and there was no meeting in December.

In January we start having our meetings at other locations as Tulsa Tech is remodeling our venue. We are protecting our vintage pipe organ and expect to be back in our space in about a year. Once again, watch your mail, email, and this webpage for updates.
