ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

From: Carlton Smith, December 2004

When the CATO people (i.e. Bill Reiger & members) went into the Oriental back in the early 1960s the console lid and front plates had been completely stripped of ornament. The side had thin plywood attached over the ornament and murals. At that time new ornament was applied to those areas and an artist was acquired to paint a design on the lid. So that explains the differences between the 1926 photos and the 1970/present day photos of the Oriental console.

This information concerning the Oriental console comes to me from Joseph Ducibella who was there and part of the 1960s group.
