My interest in pipe organs was piqued by the installation of
a new 3/44 Moller to replace the Wurlitzer 2/7 Style E at Central
Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN back in the late 50's.
The Wurly, with the original horseshoe console served the church for
years, and was removed from the Riviera Theatre in Knoxville. I'm not
sure when it was originally installed in the church.
The new Moller
parts were lying around everywhere at the church - chests, pipes,
strange cabinets, etc.
The Wurly was tossed out a second story window
into the parking lot behind the church and hauled off to the dump.
