ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

From: John C. Scott, May 2008

The actual installation was verified from microfilm Dayton Daily News December 25th 1927 newspaper records as being the Palace Theater at the northeast corner of 5th and Williams Streets in the western part of Dayton, for which L.H. Cox was the first manager.

This theatre was distinguished by being one of few theaters at the time primarily for colored people, and had a nice sized ballroom on the second floor.

I was able to gain access shortly before demolition in the early 1970's, and saw the large hole in the sidewall where the single organ chamber had been.
