History |
Werner Ferdinand von Siemens was a real organ enthusiast. In 1928 he ordered a Wurlitzer organ Type 200 (Opus 2019), which arrived in Berlin in January 1929. He sold it immediately to the Ufa Palast by the Zoo, to order a bigger organ. |
This one was a Wurlitzer Type 250 special construction (Opus 2064), and arrived in Berlin in August 1929. It was installed in Siemens' residence. |
At the end of Word War II the organ became property of the German Reich. It survived the war, but was seriously damaged later. |
In 1982 it was given to the Staatliches Institut für Musikforschung Preußischer Kulturbesitz, where it was restaurated completely. |
In the Musical Instruments Museum of this institute, the organ is still located, and is played every Saturday at 12 AM. |
