CD's and Tapes of four Moon River Broadcasts of yesteryear are now available from the Central Ohio Theatre Organ Society. Proceeds are used to maintain and rebuild the Society's 3 manual, 16 rank Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ located in the Hottenroth Center for the Performing Arts, Thomas Worthington High School, Worthington, Ohio. The COTOS Wurlitzer was originally installed in the RKO Palace Theatre, Columbus, Ohio in 1926. Fewer than three dozen Theatre Organs are housed in high schools in the United States. |

Organists included Fats Waller and Lee Erwin (believed heard on this tape). Female trios included the Clooneys and the McGuire Sisters. The narrator during most of the broadcast's run was Peter Grant. These sessions were recorded live during broadcast in 1946-47 onto acetate, and consist of 4 fifteen minute programs. Original surface noise was not totally removed, keeping the original flavor of the 1940s on-air listening. |
