CHARLES KOKOSKI - BIOGRAPHY
A native of Massachusetts, Charles moved with his family to
Maryland in the late 1930s. Music has been a lifelong avocation for
him. He began piano studies at the age of nine and later studied both
theatre and classic organ with well known teacher and professional organist Jean
Lautzenheiser. In his music endeavors he serves as a substitute organist
and pianist at several churches and his home church is the Holy Nativity
Lutheran Church in Arbutus, Maryland. He volunteers as an organist for
Sunday services at the Augsburg Lutheran Home in Lochern, Maryland and he also
plays the piano for them on special occasions. Charles has given numerous
organ concerts at various venues. Many have been in Spring Grove’s Rice
Auditorium as a regular FSTOS performing artist on our own theatre organ.
He has also been a much sought after regular performer in programs for the
Spring Grove Hospital Center patients. One of the very earliest FSTOS members,
he has been the FSTOS Treasurer for many years, has served on the Board of
Directors and is a long time member of the organ restoration crew. Charles
was a toxicologist at the Food and Drug Administration in Washington, DC until
his retirement in 1992. He is a resident of Halethorpe, Maryland.
