Rice Auditorium, the home of our future Theatre Pipe Organ. This is the Wurlitzer console that will control the 19 rank organ. At present it controls a virtual pipe organ with resources of 50 ranks!
You can hear this organ from the organ story page.

Our Mission

The Free State Theatre Organ Society is working to preserve and perpetuate a class of pipe organ which was born out of the industrial revolution and the development and deployment of electricity, which resulted in an orchestral period of pipe organ building that began filling a need to provide music for the film industry and later part of live radio broadcast.  To meet this task we are restoring and installing a pipe organ in Rice Auditorium located on the campus of Spring Grove Hospital Center. We are sponsoring a concert series open and free to the public. We provide musical events for patients and staff of SGHC. We provide free and open access to the organ for the opportunity to experience the unique abilities of these instruments to make music. Nowhere in Maryland or the surrounding states is there this kind of access to one of these instruments.
