St. ANDREWS VISIT April 2008

By Bill Reid

Part Two

AROUND THE HABOUR

These first few pictures were taken on my first walk past the harbour and shows just how bleak and cold it was

The pier is very rustic and I am sure looks very attractive in nicer weather and evening light.

These next few pcitures were taken on my second walk past and the skies started to clear and there were some very nice sunny moments while it remained very cold in the shadows and along the coast

The Abbey ruins above the harbour

ST ANDREWS CASTLE (Ruins)

The castle is a very impressive ruin and the visitor's centre was very busy.

An interesting house across the road from the castle.

The castle entrance. You get to this vias the tourist centre.

THE WEST BAY & GOLF COURSE

The Seafood Restaurant looked inviting.

The Aquariam

The Band Stand with the Golf Course in the background.

The War 'Martyres' Memorial

The Golfer's Hotel is built upon or very close to the old railway trackbed.

The Grand Hotel. Very victorian and 'grand'. However, it appears to be closed and I wondered if this was a permanant
situation or if it reopens for the Summer season.
