C.R.C. A.G.M and OPEN MEETING 1987, REPORT

First of all I would like to thank everyone most sincerely for their confidence in accepting me as your National Chairman. I can assure you that all my interests and efforts will be devoted to the Colour Reversal Club, to the exclusion of all others.  I would also like to thank members of the National Committee for their unstinting co-operation in making our first Annual General Meeting at Didcot the success it was. I sincerely hope that this unique Club of ours will prosper under our efforts and will go on from strength to strength.

Last, but not least, the support and prompting from the floor, especially by George Sparkes and those members close to him, which I can assure you helped a great deal in my ‘Baptism of fire’ and of course the great pleasure of meeting for the first time that ‘Grand old Man’ of the Club, Oliver Barron, I thank sincerely.

The meeting established in no uncertain terms, where the aims and the aspirations of the members is, and I ask you all in the kindest possible way to research your projects and ideas thoroughly before committing yourselves so that misunderstandings may be eliminated before they arise. You are most welcome to get in touch with me at any time or the appropriate Committee member, who will be only too glad to help.

The N.E.C. have a few ideas in mind regarding publicity and recruitment of members. Work is progressing into making our Newsletter more attractive and more interesting in future. Contributors  to date have submitted some very interesting first class material. I hope that it will continue to arrive regularly on the Editor’s desk.

And now to those members, to whom the ‘Yellow God’ is no more than a challenge. I refer of course, to the ‘Weighers & Mixers’, the ‘Diggers and Delvers’ and those stalwarts who spend hours perfecting formula by experimentation and trial and error.

The E6 process did a lot of damage to the C.R.C. as far as membership was concerned.chemicals were evolved with high temperature processing by the giants of the Photo-Industry in an effort to channel all processing into the commercial labs, and of course anything new must be more expensive so a double purpose was achieved. Area 15, in particular, was virtually decimated overnight. Members lost heart and returned to the ‘Old type Camera Club’, the darkroom and the enlarger. From sixty members to 4, with serious thoughts of winding up Area 15. But thanks to the ‘Weighers & Mixers’, the ‘Diggers and Delvers’, who must be given every credit for cracking those problems, I feel that we are now on the way to a rebirth of the Club’s fortunes. To the ‘Weighers & Mixers, The Diggers and Delvers’ I raise my hat.

In Conclusion I would like to repeat that the C..R~C. has an excellent team at the helm. Ron Croad, Hon. Sec. Colin Powell, Hon. Treasurer. Bob Lewis, Hon. Mem. Sec. Bill Reid, Hon. Editor. Eddie Pearce, Hon. Librarian Brian Savage and Kevin Craske, Hon. Technical Advisors, and all the dedicated chaps. If anyone will put the Club back on its feet I am sure they will. I shall help of course.

With best wishes for the Future.

H.H.(Bert) Sanders,

Hon. chairman.

The meeting was opened by the Chairman who welcomed 30 members to the first A.G.M.of the Club, It was stated that a new National Executive Committee was formed in Nov.85, and it was hoped that they would be returned to office. The Chairman stated that in two meetings lasting 10 hours the Club Constitution and Competition rules were formulated, and he hoped that these would be ratified later in the meeting.

Mr. Brian Savage was thanked for his efforts in holding the Club together over the past 3 years as Chairman/Secretary, and hoped that he may now enjoy a little more time to himself were expressed.

Apologies for absence were read from Pete Calvert (Area 4 Leader) and from Eddie Pearce, Librarian Eddie reported that in the past year there had been little call on the Library material. A list of contents of the Library was enclosed arid an appeal for more modern material to be sent to Eddie was noted.

The Secretary stated that activities during the year have been very much the same as before. Each Leader has run his own Area according to the needs of its membership. Local Newsletters, folios, Meetings and Competitions were held in various localities.
