AGM 92, Report
With the highest attendance ever, the 21st Anniversary A.G.M. & Meeting got off to a great start. Our thanks must go to those who travelled quite long distances. The furthest being David Morrell and Ken Smith (Area 4) from Middlesbrough, a round trip of over 500 miles. It was nice to see a good number of new faces.
Tony Chuter set out a large collection of photographic items for sale at very low prices. Oliver Barron`s advertised offers soon cleared. Ron & Susan were selling the Club`s film and chemicals, Arthur Raymond had a large supply of chemicals as did Kevin & sandra Craske of TFM. The bring & Sell stalls appear to have been very popular. Why not look out those unused items and bring them along next year!
Alan Panes once again loaned and erected his four print stands which were completely filled with Cibachrome prints. Kevin & Margary Maskell (Area 13) displayed excellent examples from their Wild Life Safari`s, American Scenery and some fine portraits.
Eric Weatherill also did us proud with some of his best work. Rita & Major Pearle deserve our thanks for the excellent job they did in making prints from the five previous winners of the Slide Folio. Ten prints in all of which I am sure the winners will appreciate receiving.
The A.G.M. was quickly dealt with and the two major changes was voting in two replacement positions. Peter Guy (Area 20) has taken on as Hon.Chairman from Bert sanders who has had to give up due to family committments. bu remains as Area 15 Co-ordinator. Many thanks Bert.
A friend of Colin Powell (Treasurer) had been acting Auditor, but we now have our own auditor, Mrs. Mundell, Area 20. Welcome both.
The slide presentations began with an A/V by Tony Chuter (Area 22). Last year Tony`s work was affected by an electrical fault. However, this time there was no problems and we were entertained by the same programme which was about the restoration of the famous battle Ship, "Warrior", but with added material which consisted of B&W slides copied from original negatives from Dave Morrell.
Tony has done an excellent job of both slides and interesting commentry and covered every corner of this fine ship. It is planned to make a video to be sold to visitors to "Warrior" and I am sure it will be very successful.
This was followed by some slides and a talk by Mike Ballantyne (Area 20) on Slide Duplicating. Mike gives full details of this in his article on page 12.
Eric Weatherill (Area 11) next with two A/V`s, Red Arrows & Friends and Fur & Feathers. Eric had a most striking home built wooden framework to set up his two projectors. Both, once lined up, could be moved in any diection, in complete unison. Set to stirring music, "Candle Shoe Planes", the Red Arrows were captured in most of their well known flying routines from a collection of home processed slides taken over many years, from E4 to E6.
"Furs & Feathers, also set to feet tapping music, "Where Flamingo`s Fly" by Bert Camfert & "That`s Life" by J mes Last, we enjoyed many pleasant shots of animals & birds in very colourful slides.
Next, Bill Taylor (Area 22), took us back to the days of the `Magic Lantern` with original glass slides. While some brought titters of stiff and pompus poses we were also intrigued by the look at life up to a hundred years ago, and possibly surprised/worried! at how some things just havn`t changed at all.
This was followed by two amusing A/V`s by Kevin & Sandra Craske (Area 9). Kevin builds his own electronic gadgets to go with his projectors and uses a Rell-Reel tape recorder. The first programme was a `tonge-in-cheek` look at what you need to put an A/V together and worked charmingly with the music and commentry perfectly syncronised to the slide on the screen.
The second piece was "A Day In The Life Of Fakenham" explaining how this usually `sleepy` market town is completely transformed on `Market Day`. From the early hours when the stalls start going up to the hussle & Bussle of the sales and the colours all around, to the end of the day when the litter lies about and the streets become empty once more. Just goes to show what you can do by simply carrying your camera around and observing the place and it`s people.
It was a pity projector problems stopped the last few slides from being shown in sequence. However Kevin projected the final slide which was a lovely `video-titled` slide congratulating the C.R.C. on it`s 21st Annaversary. The final programme of the day was supurb `wide-screen` slides by Bill Crumplin (Area 20). What better way to conclude the day seeing Bill`s slides projected on to the 21 x 8, foot screen. A perfet finnish to a perfect day. I would like to conclude by thanking you all again for coming along and making it such a lovely day. My thanks to to my Daughter, Mandy for doing the catering and to the others of my family who assisted.
