HERE & THERE

With Ron Knowles

In my column for the January issue I mentioned. a two bath Blix formula which was sent to me by Bob Fry of Area 19. I made the comment then that I was pretty certain that the troubles encountered with my Three-bath process was almost always due to the Blix - but that worked perfectly when freshly mixed. So here’s the Two-bath version kindly provided by Bob. For which I am .ever grateful. Thanks Bob.

Solution ‘A’ Solution ‘B

WELCOME TONY
After the disappointment of losing Lea Cook as Publicity Officer,, because he had decided to further his education by taking on at a local college, it is with pleasure that I hear that Tony Chuter has taken on this somewhat onerous job. Tony and I have been corresponding for some time via the tape recorder and I feel I can Say with’ certainty that he will make quite an impact in the necessary effort" to recruit a goodly number of new members. Good Luck Tony.

LOCATING A SHORT LENGTH OF FILM
George Sparkes of Area 22 describes an easy way of locating a short length of film which may be useful to others. Particularly should they need to do this to test a new formula or emulsion. George winds on to a blank frame, takes off the lens cap, sets the shutter to ‘B’, presses THE SHUTTER OPEN. He then’ places a small piece of Sellotape on the film, closes the shutter and winds the film back into the cassette. It is then quite easy, when loading the film into the tank to locate the blank frame and to snip the film at this point.

SPIRITS ABROAD
It would appear that there are kindred spirits at large in the C R C or at least two minds with but a single thought. What am I rambling on about? Patience, my friend, and I will reveal all. You see it’s all  new-fangled talking machine which started it all. Well perhaps the tape recorder isn’t all THAT new. But Tony Chuter and I have been having regular natters on tape as mentioned above and one such revealed an idea as having it’s source both’ in Southampton (Tony’s place and, at the same time, Cleethorpes (where I am domiciled).

The idea is for a gift voucher scheme (like the ones offered by stores such as Boots, Woolworths and so on) available for C. R. C. members, most of whom have friends or relatives - perhaps both - who, take photographs. Both Tony and I agree that a gift voucher scheme could very well solve the problem of many members who are often at’ a loss as to what present to give for Uncle Tom’s birthday, or Auntie Ada’s Silver Wedding. Then there’s Christmas, Easter, Father’s day, Mother’s day and whatever. Surely some of these friends, relatives, allied to the special occasions I’ve mentioned, could well be grateful for the additional know-how they could: receive from a voucher given them a free years’ sub to the Club.
