Portree Harbour: Using a tripod and
with plenty of light it was easy enough to frame and balance
the picture reasnably ell. A stop watch and an extension lead
was used t make the exposures. f11 @ between 28-32 seconds
gives an acceptable exposure, making adjustments according to
hw much light there is. Providing you keep the contrast near
normal for the highlight areas the shadows take care of
themselves.

Portree Quay: By the end of
June darkness is only an hour r two and even between midnight
and 1am there is still a fair amount of light in the sky. An
80B correction filter was used which corrects the light
balance but the sky is rather darker than normal.

Portree Main Street: Bunting
is up for the Skye Gamers weekend and the street is reasonably
clear of cars. there is a tranquility
of being up and about at this time and the only sounds are the
ocassional cry of a Seagul and water lapping at the harbour. As
you read this many of you will be contemplating your holidays.
Why not make time exposures part
of your photographic jaunts this year! It is
very rewarding.

Portree Hotel: The town centre is
quite well lit and some buildings such as this hotel have
additional lights, which all help to make for a reasonable
short exposure. There was hardly anyone about but one local
chap stopped to see what I was up to and wasn't satisfied tat
I could take pictures in such light, until I took a picture of
him. The exposure was fine but I expect the blurred image of
himself was more to do with his delicate condition than the
long exposure! I sent him the slide whatever!
