BILL WILSON

It is with much sadness that I must report the passing of Bill Wilson, a true stalwart if the Colour Reversal Club. Bill joined in the earliest days of the CR50 Club and was Area 17 leader for many years passing the Area to the care of Area 22.

Until his retirement Bill worked at Fords, at Eastleigh. He wrote numerous articles for the newsletters over the years and was a regular at the A.G.M.’s at Didcot. Another chapter in the Club’s history closes when people like Bill pass on.

INSIDE

On page three Brian Asquith’s latest article takes a look at how our hobby is being affected by time and modern computer technology and asks searching questions as to whether Digital Imaging is ever likely to be as good as Colour Transparency film and if computer projection can ever come up to the magic of viewing your slides with a good quality projector and screen.

From page four to seven Alan Greeley reproduces and article on how he photographed Tower Bridge (in Black 7 White) back in 1957. All the photographs are scanned from the original magazine and aren’t all that good but along with Alan’s details make for a very interesting project.

On the centre pages we have our very first attempt at producing 3-D photographs in our pages. This uses the ‘Crossed Eyes’ principle. Simply concentrate dead centre between the two photographs and slowly cross your eyes until a third image appears in the centre, which will be in beautiful three dimensions. It works every time for me and I find them very interesting. Relax and don’t try too hard and it should all come together.

On page ten Roy Salmons gives details of an offer by a TV Company, who are making a new series based on the life of Winston Churchill, where they would like ordinary citizens to send in photographs and film of that period. Here’s a chance for you to gain the proverbial 15 minutes fame!

There is also a timely warning that 2002/3 Subscriptions are now due.
Page 12 & 13 gives a somewhat ‘tongue in cheek’ but educational rundown, in alphabetical order of various gadgets and speech used in the production of film and picture taking. It is hoped that this will be an ongoing article, from A - Z.

This issue concludes with another great selection of slides scanned from the latest C.R.C. Slide Folio, once again showing that C.R.C. members can hold their own in the photographic field.

It is disturbing that once again we have not been able to arrange any Committee Meetings and that this year there will be no A.G.M. Without a Secretary there is no-one able to organise things. WE shall need to arrange some sort of meeting to decide which way the Club is going. If you are willing to help in this matter it would be most welcome. WE shall either have to call an extraordinary Meeting or try to arrange an Open meeting to recruit a new Committee and if at all possible I shall try to arrange an Autumn Meeting here at Didcot. But your help and views are seriously required. I hope that you will come forward and help save the C.R.C. from possible closure. Please contact me as soon as possible.
