EDITORIAL

Some of you may have read an Nov. issue of the Mail On Sunday, of a competition for someone to `process` a film in our polluted `waters`!!.

This came about when an Enviorment Correspondant wrote about hte polution of a brook that ran into a lake in Walsall. It was suggested that to process a B&W film (400asa), it should be over-exposed by using at 100 asa. A developing tank of the polluted water should be raised to room temperature with the tank agitated every ten minutes, and the water changed every three hours, then cut off a piece of film after four hours and put it into some fixer for five minutes then wash with running water for 5-10 mins!!!.

It is suggested that for even faster rersults one should find "an even more polluted source of water, which may not prove too difficult".

Obviously some `tonge-in-cheek` reporting, but I wonder how many of you, like myself, have often thought of this possibility on coming across waters while on our travels!

A.G.M.91

The next AGM & Meeting at Didcot will take place on Sunday the 19th. of May 1991. There will be the usual slide & A/V presentations and Colour Print Exhibitions, with Stalls selling everything you need for home processing. Refreshments will be available throughout the day. Full details will appear in the April Newsletter.

Whats`s up with the `Big` firms these days!! 3M have spoild things by demanding that we `must` purchase cassettes of film in batches of "50"!! I have just tried to get a new ink ribbon for my `printer`, and the firm selling them demands that only orders of £25 and more will be sent!!! Whatever has happened to personal service these days... it sounds like a dirty word. Personally, I feel it smacks of the general `greed` for ever more profit, in the shortest possible time. If I come across another dealer who sells ribbon singly, then I know who is going to get my future custom.
