EDITORIAL

Another year has come full circle and by the time you read this we will be only 12 months from the new Millennium. Back in the distant 50's I remember thinking the year 2000 was too far off to think about, and now, here it is almost upon us. Such is the pace of life!

Along with the years, technology too makes those early years seem almost draconian, though most of you will agree, many of the changes aren't necessarily for the best. But even in photography changes are apace and the dawn of the Digital Image is with us and as with the changes from Slate & Nail, and yes! even the Abacus, to computer graphics, we have to accept these advances as mere tools, to be used to advantage.

What I am trying to say is, that I am now the owner of a fully up to date PC which leaves my dear old Atari STE light years behind. As well as new word processing and Desktop publishing programmes that work at blinding speed, I can now exchange mail on the Internet (See E-mail address on page 16). It is quite amazing to receive a reply within a short period of having sending it out. Text can be transferred directly from E-mail to W. P. or DTP programmes. But most of all the PC makes me more compatible with most computer users. It certainly hasn't been easy learning the new system, and specially the more powerful Desktop Publishing programme that the Newsletter is produced on. I have stuck to the standard page set up as previously and will add newer styles as I learn more.

By the way, the CRC has it's own Web-Sight, albeit, under Sandra & Kevin's business sight. Have a look in "digdes@digital-design.demon.co.uk". Members will require a "Password" to get into the Chat page, but follow the instructions and you will find an area to request the password. There isn't much in the chat page as yet, but WE should be able to start filling it up with CRC related chit-chat before long. Welcome to Alan Edwards, of Holsworthy, Devon, in his new position as Area 22 Co-ordinator and hope that he and his members have every success. How active an Area is all depends on how members interact with the Co-ordinator, so please keep Alan informed of your interests and I am sure he will do all he can to keep Area 22 active and interesting. If you can offer to help Alan in any way possible he will be pleased to hear from you.

There has been a number of enquiries about processing Cibachrome reversal papers. If you have experience of this medium please let me have some copy for future Newsletters. Likewise with a request for articles on making up and AV presentation! No-one has come forward as yet, but on page - you will find an article taken from the Scottish Federation Bulletin No. 038. Hopefully this will encourage CRC members to either send in their own copy, or others to try making up their own AV presentations.

Pete is already organising the next AGM and arranged another interesting talk & demonstration so now is the time to consider offering to give a talk or slide/print presentation. He will be pleased to hear from you. We have certainly gone through many changes and I hope that we continue to keep our hobby, and the Club going right into the new Millennium.

Have a very happy and Peaceful New Year.
