LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Brian Asquith (Area 11):- It is with dismay that I read that the CRC is low on members doing W&M and that the content of the magazine should reflect that. Being one of the few ? I have looked on the CRC magazine as a source of information which is not now available in the popular photographic press as regular features. The exception being Tim Redman`s excellent series on the A.P. on B&W printing. The popularity of this series shows there are people doing their own and W&M as lots of his information could not be put to use without scales and chemicals.

However I would like to see a broader approach and this is obviously acceptable as we have had excellent contributions in the magazine on Neg. colour printing, copying etc. I would go as far as to say and having access to most of the Newsletters and magazines via the Library that the Club has always had a wide coverage of all things photographic including good travel articles. But the plus for me has been the W&Mixers. Most other things mentioned can be found in the local library or weekly/monthly magazines, i.e. film reviews, Home processing kits, what can one say about them! other than that what`s in the instructions. Results by the way, are very good, with all films. As for "where and when to use Konica film" do we really need such basic stuff?

Meetings are out, for the majority the magazine is our only contact. Its yours to express your views and ideas, what you would like. More letters, articles on everything photographic of an advanced nature, i.i. experiments, B&W and colour, Technical features, holidays, DIY, equipment in use. I am sure the members of CRC are doing lots of things and their experience would be of interest to the rest. After all, you would not be a member if you were satisfied with just taking the pictures and leaving the rest to someone else, would you.

I agree with Ron on seeing someone else`s work "Join a folio" there are a lot around short of members who would be delighted to have you, and ts by far the best way to improve your photography. Another is by W&M it opens up lots of enjoyable avenues of this great hobby, photography, enjoy it.
