SECRETARY'S NOTES

Congratulations to all who helped make the AGM & Get-Together at Didcot such a success. The slide shows were of a very high quality and it would not be fair to single out any one show as it is not the object of our club to be competitive but rather, instructive. I certainly had my imagination stirred more than a little.

The copy slides of underwater scenes by Mike Ballentyne has started to make a few membes hanker after an improved performance in that field. They were very good Mike.

The attendance was the best we have ever had. Members came from as far afield as Middlesbrough in Cleveland to Seaton in Devon. Thanks to you all. I hope you all enjoyed the day.

It was sad to hear that Bert Sanders was giving up the post of Chairman of the Club. Bert has been in the chair for six years. During that time he has not been in the best of health, his eyes giving him a lot of trouble. We wish Bert a happy retirement now that he has decided on having a rest. He has put in a lot of work over the last six years for our benefit.

Welcome to the new Chairman, who is Pete Guy, well known to those of us living in the Northern Home counties, as the Co-ordinator of Area 20. Pete also acts as Publicity Officer for the Club.

I recently had a phone call from Albert Raymond owner of A.R. Photo Chemicals. Albert had the red problem. Blacks and whites were good as were his colours with the exception that some of the shadows had a reddish tint. We had a long chat and agreed that the trouble must be in the colour developer or reversal bath. Most likely culprit is the lower quantity of CD-3 used in the Club colour developer.

In order to counteract this problem I have made a couple of modifications to my own solutions recently. The main difference is an increase of CD-3 to 10 gms. per Litre.

The length of time in the Reversal bath is also varied. First use gets the normal 2 minutes. Each additional use has an increase of « min. This is quite in order as the official instructions allow up to 5 mins. in that bath. I have processed about 20 films so far with this method with good results. I will shortly pass the full information on to Bill so that it can be published and anyone who fancies it can give the method a try.

Ron.
