Tellers - Summerhoof Organ Opus 55 - 1911 from: Sts. Peter & Paul R.C. Church Hamburg, NY |
Now Owned by: Joseph M. McCabe
1999
The Tellers - Summerhoof organ was installed in Sts. Peter & Pauls Roman catholic church in 1911. The organ was original to the building and was comprised of 2m/12r. The organ was originally tubular pneumatic with a mechanical swell pedal.
In c.1965, Deleware Organs rebuilt the orginal slider chests converting them to elctro-pneumatic pulldowns. Also, at that time a few tonal changes were made and couplers were also added. The air is supplied by an original (and very early) Spencer Orgoblo unit which had a new motor installed in 1998. The air is stored in a single 5'x8' resevoir (releathered in c.1980) and conveyed to the chests by all wood trunks.
Most pipework was sent to Wicks of Highland, Ill. to become part of the new gallery organ for the church. In November of 1999, the entire mechanism, casework, air system, keydesk, dummy facade pipes, etc. were removed to storage until I decide what to do with the organ. The sepration of pipework from the organ is not considered a lose because although it was high quality (what was not altered by Deleware at least), but was rather unexciting tonally.
