Text Box: The May 1, 2010 program at the Keystone Oaks High School featured Ken Double on the PATOS Wurlitzer and the Steel City Harmonizers on stage. This was a first for PATOS and proved to be a very exciting program. The program also included two unannounced (prior to concert time) surprises. The first was a piano solo of “Root Beer Rag” by a local musician, Robbie Halpner, who is 10 years old. Below is a photo of him seated at the console of the PATOS Wurlitzer with his younger brother, Steven, who shares much of his brother’s musical abilities. On the music rack are two controls for audio clips from the program. The first is Robbie’s performance along with an introduction by Ken Double. The second is a brother/sister duet singing “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better” by Megan and Christian Jones with light accompaniment by Ken Double at the organ. Unfortunately, we have no picture of the second performance.
These short surprise performances were greatly enjoyed by the entire audience and hopefully will be done again.
