The console of this fine organ has much more room than the current 33 ranks require as evidenced by the exposed red felt in the unoccupied areas of the stop slots in the horseshoe. In the future, it is believed more ranks wil be added to fill this spacious console out.

About The Music

John Baratta played the songs above on February the 24th of 2007. The recording was made by Eugene Hayek using his Samson Zoom H4 digital audio recorder like the one we use at the Walnut Hill Office of Operations. "The Organ, King of Instruments, and Here's Why"

John Baratta, who is both organist and music educator, will do a special presentation titled, "The Organ, King of Instruments, and Here's Why" for the High School Music Department on Friday, March 16 during school hours.

This presentation will be the first of a series of educational presentations that John plans to do in several high schools in northern New Jersey later in the spring featuring our Allen theatre organ. John is planning for this to be the beginning of a series of student outreach programs in the southern New York and northern New Jersey area in collaboration with local AGO chapters, designed to introduce students to the organ, and possibly set them up with local organ teachers.

Since the Allen has dual voicing (theatre and classical), it can be used to demonstrate a wide range of music. John has a sterling reputation for connecting with kids interested in music based on his 30 years of work as a public school music educator.

The goal of this ambitious program is to secure the future of the organ and its music among a new generation. At this point, there is no budgeted funding for the program. Anyone wishing to make a donation to NYTOS to support this kind of outreach T effort, should earmark it "Student Outreach Education Program."
