This month's featured organ is the 2/9 Mighty WurliTzer Theatre Pipe Organ installed at Dave Geiger's residence in Columbus, Ohio.

The instrumnent is an enlargement of the 1926 Wurlitzer 2/5 Style B Special, Opus 1503 originally installed in the Indiana Theatre in Washington, IN.

The nine ranks and percussions are as follows:

  • Concert Flute
  • Salicional
  • Salicional Celeste
  • Open Diapason
  • Clarinet
  • Orchestral Oboe
  • Vox Humana
  • Tibia Clausa
  • Tuba Horn
  • Xylophone
  • Glockenspiel
  • Chrysoglott
  • Chimes

It is equipped with a Peterson electronic relay and record/playback system. Wind is supplied from twin high-speed high-pressure Meidinger "silent" blowers of 1.5 hp each.

The chamber is in an unfinished area of the basement with the console and listening area in an adjacent finished room with exposed swell shades.

The recordings were made live using a Zoom H4 digital audio recorder provided by Tom Hoehn. These recordings were made live and we did not edit out anything except some residual electronic noise, which was almost not there.
