About The Recordings
|
The music was recorded in 16bit 44.1KHz stereo WAV file format during a live performance on the same computer that was running the MidiTzer, using Creative Lab's bundled Wave Recorder. Once the files were collected, they were transferred via USB flash card to the laptop computer for on-location editing and post mastering in SoundForge6.
Dan Rowland has this to say about the way the Mighty MidiTzer was set up. We quote him in blue text below:
Soundfont Files
I store all downloaded SF2 files in a dedicated file folder for quick reference. This includes copies of Bruce Miles' and John Tay's soundfonts.
Miditzer Output 1 and 2
The image below shows how to switch between instruments or ranks from a list of loaded SoundFonts in MidiTzer. Whatever is showing in the list will be playable. In this illustration, bank 27 is where the Universal SoundFonts from Kent Allman are loaded. The Bruce Miles soundfonts are in bank 25.
If you choose to use Bruce Miles' Tibias, the bank number would be 25. If you choose to use the Universal SoundFont WurliTzer Tibia, change the bank from 25 to 27 in the column next to Tibia. Do the same for each instrument/rank for which you have a choice between the Allman USFs or from Bruce Miles' or John Tay's SoundFonts.
Fluidsynth settings 1 and 2
This is where you load the SoundFonts you wish to use. Click load, and the SoundFont files like the ones mentioned in the SoundFont files image above will come up.
Select the sf2 file you wish to use. A dialog box will appear, and at the bottom, type in the bank the file is supposed to be loaded into. My
Universal SoundFont files go to bank 27. Others are loaded into bank 25.
Click OK. Repeat this step until you have loaded all the sf2s you wish to use.
All you have to do now is go to the MidiTzer Output Settings and change the bank numbers from 25 to 27 for each of the various ranks loaded from the Universal SoundFonts (WurliTzer Tibia, Lafayett Horn Diapason, etc.)
When Kent Allman's Universal SoundFonts are complete, there will be all inclusive SoundFonts each for the WurliTzer, Barton, Page, and Robert Morton instruments. You can load them into bank 26, 27, 28, and 29, which will give you a choice of four different pipe organs simply by changing the bank numbers accordingly in the MidiTzer Output Settings!

The files were transferred to the Main Data Server for conversion to 136KB/sec WMA files using Windows Media Encoder 9. We can never thank Dan Rowland enough for this wonderful opportunity to get to play such a well-built and golden-voiced Virtual Theatre Pipe Organ.
