Anatomy of a WurliTzer Theatre Pipe Organ

CONSOLE - HORSESHOE

This is looking at the top side of the horseshoe.

Here can be seen the "ON" preset pneumatics. These inflate, when required, and push the back end of the stop tab arm, upwards, to move the stop tab to the ON, or down, position. The OFF pneumatic, which is under the horseshoe, is connected to the stop tab arm with the tape that hooks to the eyelet that goes through the tab arm and is held in place by the plastic nuts.

Also visible are the contact blocks. One of each pair of contacts is connected to the power common and the other is connected to the wire that comes up from the cable that runs in the channel on the underside. The tab arm has a silver collar to ensure good contact. As the tab is turned on the collar wipes across the contacts and keeps them clean.

The four contact blocks in the center of the photo have a seperate common and the main common detours around them. These four are for the Pedal Traps and are seperate because they operate through the Traps 1st/2nd Touch Switch.

The tabs sit and pivot on the brass rod that is held in place by an eyelet between each tab.

Pins each side of the tabs maintain the horizontal position of the tabs.
