Ron Carter


			Ron Carter will be accompanying the classic movie, "The General"

	Mr. Carter, a member of the American Theatre Organ Society and on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Chapter, has presented numerous theatre organ concerts and silent film accompaniments throughout the southeast. He is a graduate of Georgia State University and recently retired as a Commander with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation with over 38 years of public law enforcement experience. At age seven, Mr. Carter began accordion lessons and soon became interested in the piano and organ. He studied under Glenn Moffet and with the Anderson School of Music in Atlanta. He has served four churches as organist/Music Director for the last 40 years and is currently the organist, Music Director for the Hiram First United Methodist Church. He installed and maintained a 16 rank 1927 Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ in his Marietta residence for twenty years which was subsequently replaced with a four manual state of the art Allen Digital Theatre Organ. Mr. Carter is also Secretary to the Friends of the Strand Board, a local group of community and business leaders who have successfully restored a beautiful neighborhood theatre in Marietta, Georgia. The Theatre will be installing a large Theatre Pipe Organ sometime in 2010. Mr. Carter is also the house organist for the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in Decatur, Georgia where he is responsible for the 60 rank Aeolian Residence Organ. He is also the Theatre Organ Consultant for Allen Organ Studios of Atlanta and has been involved in several theatre organ installations throughout Georgia. Mr. Carter has been married to Donna Sharon Carter for 41 years and they have one son John, daughter-in-law Julie and two precious grandchildren Jake and Abby. Back to Concert Program - CLICK HERE
			The General (1926) One of the best known and most popular movie comedies of the silent era, this classic was released during the year that the Riviera Theatre was built and was probably one of its earliest showings. Starring the immensely popular Buster Keaton, this movie perfectly showcases the important role of a theatre organ in enhancing the action with realistic sounds and music to suit all moods.
