Minutes of the COTOS Board Meeting

Tuesday, August 14, 2000, at Tom Hamilton's home -- COTOS Board of Director's meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. with all members present. Minutes of previous meeting of July 10, 2000, were approved as read by motion of Tom Hamilton, seconded by Herman Thompson.

Crew Report by John Drake -- The HVAC people have been working on the roof at the WHS school and haven't begun the indoor HVAC project yet.

Conn 650 Organ Report by Tom Hamilton -- Melvin Lewis will start work on it on 21 August. We should have it ready by Market Day, September 9. Donations have been received toward repair by Melvin Lewis of the organ. Tom also reported that his uncle has a Conn Organ that he wants to dispose of or sell. Tom will put information about it in next month's Stoptab.

Market Day Report by John Drake -- Packets will be ready for mailing in a week or so. Rental of tent is $68.00. Mark moved and Tom seconded that we purchase a 10 X 10-foot tent at about $200.00 for future use. Motion passed. John Drake will buy it and be reimbursed by Mark. Market Day discussion about banner, possible sale of stoptab key chains, Moon River tapes; erect poster about October 29 concert at Ohio Theatre by Simon Gledhill; tables and chairs to be set up; Martha Sprout recruiting volunteers to work on setup and teardown on Market Day; method of transport/install/maintain Conn Organ in tent; electricity accessible to the tent; tables and chairs supplied by John Drake; heavy gauge electric extension cords by John Adams; Tom Hamilton to accompany on Conn Organ music for silent movies to run on TV screen continuously.

Music Library CD status reported by Tom Hamilton -- 95% finished; described how system works to obtain all types of data on all music listed, with ability for users to add their own library of music, create new records to enormous wealth of music informational data.

Fund Raising Committee Report by Tom Hamilton -- First committee meeting will be 13 September 2000. Call Tom for time and place; phone.

STOP-TAB report by Vice-Pres and Editor John Burns -- web site in place. Described ATOS convention in Milwaukee. Newsletter will itemize what COTOS has done and what we're going to do in the future. Tom Hamilton proposed November COTOS meeting be held at the Strand Theatre in Delaware from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19. Cathy Amato will schedule their movies around our meeting. December COTOS meeting still open. January and February meetings at Worthington High School if possible. Stoptab will contain notice of October 29 concert of Simon Gledhill. A $2.00 discount is offered on groups of 20 people or more. Accordingly, a$12.50 ticket will cost our group $10.50 per person. Checks to be made PAYABLE TO OHIO THEATRE, but sent or mailed to Secretary Emma L. Soiu, 229 West North Broadway, Columbus, OH 43214-4018. We will have a sign-up sheet at the AUGUST 27 COTOS meeting and at the SEPTEMBER 13 meeting. Checks will also be collected at those two meetings.

Nomination of Officers -- Committee members are Herman Thompson and Betty Polsley. The terms of Herman Thompson and Emma L. Soiu are expiring. Herman reported on Car Show held at Holland Theatre in Bellefontaine, described remodeling work being done on their theatre and that management has invited COTOS members to tour their theatre.

Proposed Modifications and Up-Dating to COTOS BY-LAWS -- Mark presented the proposed changes to Articles V and VII. Very lengthy discussion ensued pertaining to conflict of interest and proposals were to be rewritten covering the areas cited. There was a consensus, however, that nominations from the floor should be accepted at the September and October meetings. Mark will contact Indiana ATOS Chapter as a pattern adaptable to our chapter. Next Board meeting September 11, 2000, at 7:00 p.m. at Tom Hamilton's home. SPECIAL NOTICE formally introduced at close of meeting that on August20, 2000, John and Martha Drake will celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary, and ON THE SAME DAY John will celebrate his 90th birthday. DOUBLE CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF YOU! ! !
