Chapter Meeting – Friday October 13

For October our general Chapter Meeting will be at Williams Music in Columbus, OH. Williams now has in its store a new Allen 3/11 Theatre Organ. This instrument utilizes the latest Allen Renaissance™ technology to produce strikingly realistic reproduction of true Theatre Organs sounds, including pipes, tuned percussions, traps, and other effects. To demonstrate this instrument, Tom Hazleton has been engaged to perform. There will be a workshop at 5:30PM demonstrating various aspects of Theatre Organ playing. Then a short break for dinner if you like. Followed at 7:30PM by a mini-concert, then an opportunity for open console if time permits. Refreshments will be served. The event is free, but reservations are requested. Call Tom or Sandi Hlasten at 262-2222. Bring a friend or two.

Directions: Williams music is located at 3366 Olentangy River Road, just south of Riverside Hospital, in the same lot as Kohl’s Department store.

COTOS Web Site Update

Our web site is posted at theatreorgans.com/cotos/index.htm, hosted by the Theatre Organ Home Page. Included so far are pages on our chapter organ, a continually updated schedule of area organ events, a page on membership information, and links to other interesting sites. The Links page has been updated to include listings of web sites of other chapters and local TO societies, sites for organ building and restoration supplies and services, and home pages of several organists. In August we added an extensive picture gallery from the ATOS 2000 Annual Convention in Milwaukee. We will be following this up with pictures from the upcoming regional in Massachusetts, posted (with any luck) in a frighteningly short period of time after the event. Also coming soon will be pictures and details of the largest Theatre Organ in Ohio, which resides in a private residence.

If you have any historical material on COTOS, Theatre Organs in Ohio, or any suggestions, corrections, complaints, or any other issues, Email me at the address above, or write to the Stoptab PO Box address.
