The March COTOS
Chapter meeting will be held at radio station WEEC in
Springfield, OH. This is the temporary home of one of the
Chapter's recently acquired Conn 650's. There is an open house
scheduled at the radio station that day, and the organ should be
available for open console. Plan to meet in the parking lot
behind the auditorium at Thomas Worthington High School at 2PM
for directions and maps. There will probably be little, and most
likely no business portion for this meeting. There may be an
opportunity to visit the Heritage Museum in Springfield, which
is to be the eventual permanent home of the instrument, but this
has not been confirmed.
At the February
Chapter meeting Stan Krider reported on his meeting with Mr.
Scot Prebles, Principal of Thomas Worthington High School. There
were discussion of possible uses of the Chapter Wurlitzer in
activities of the school, or in
|
collaborative
activities with the Chapter. Also discussed were plans for a
possible press conference/open house to increase public
awareness of the organ and the current fund raising campaign.
Stan's impression was that of a positive response on the part of
Mr. Prebles.
The featured
performer for the meeting was Scott Crawford. Program highlights
included the Muppet Show theme, Smile (Jesse Crawford
arrangement, The Entertainer (Joplin), I Dreamed a Dream (Les
Misarables), St. Louis Blues, Prelude and Fugue in C Major
(Bach, Well Tempered Clavier, Book !), Sunrise, Sunset. Also, a
Polka Medley (Beer Barrel, Lietchensteiner, Too Fat), and Alley
Cat. Open Console followed with many of the usual suspects.
Also announced was Martha Drake's
upcoming birthday on March 12. She will be 91!
