The Late Mr. V. G. W. Harrison (Area 22)
£200 legacy to C.R.C.

By C.R.C. Editor, Bill Reid

It was with sadness that I learned from Roy Salmons of the passing of Mr. Vernon Harrison, who was a long time member. Sadly he decided to leave when George Sparkes and his local committee had a serious conflict of interests with the CRC Central Committee. However it seems that his fondness for the Club never wavered and he kindly bequeathed a sum of £200.00 to Area 22. This of course would have been the Area 22 of the time and we must give respect to George and his Committee for helping to make Vernon’s membership of the Club so enjoyable that he felt so much for the Club and the area as to leave this legacy to them.

The money has gone to the present Area 22 Co-ordinator, Alan Edwards and will be entered into Area 22’s accounts. I am sure Alan will be thankthl but wondering what good use it can be put to.

The bequest was dealt with by the solicitors, Triggs, Wilkinson and Mann of Leatherhead, Surrey who handled Vernon’s estate. Our thanks too to George Sparkes for passing the papers on to our Secretary, Roy Salmons.

The passing of Vernon is another reminder of how the years have flown past and of the great changes we have seen over the years. his to the Club’s credit, and those who held the reins, that it has held up so well and been very successful, in spite ofanumberof difficult periods and especiallytoday with the increasing speed of Digital Imaging that has cause some confusion and a loss of direction. However with the right people in command lam sure the Club will continue and progress and change with the times. Whatever, it always remains to ‘ourselves’ to do whatever we can to keep the interest and activity going. People like Vernon helped greatly in the past; now it is up to us.
