EDITOR'S LATEST WEIGHING & MIXING - REPORT

Those following my venture into weighing & mixing will remember that I haven’t been having very much luck. My very first try using the BK 60 formula and some Konicachrome film produced somewhat reasonable. first time results, but which were still a bit took ‘Green’.- Some while later .1 tried using Ron Knowle’s two developers from his 3 bath formula, again using and sticking to the. BK60 separate Bleach and Fixer arid using a Photoworld Reversal bath. This produced the worst green cast I had ever seen with the slides being of not much good. I didn’t suspect the ‘reversal’ as I have used the Photoworld bath many times with excellent results. However I processed another film but used 1i~ht reversal, I was both sad to find the same horrible green cast but pleased to prove that the Reversal bath had been fine, I would also add that I don’t condem Ron’s formula as it could well have been my error, somewhere along the way, and Ron has sent me numerous very well processed slides he has done in his brew.

So there is nothing for it but to try again. As Frank Beaumont had sent me the Labachrome film and I was recommended to try the Arnold Moorhouse formula, I decided to try this formula. Again just using the two developers with the separate ‘BK6O Bleach and Fixer and the Photoworld Reversal. I made up two 300m1 sizes of the developers and this time I.had Tony Chuter check the pH values and as luck had it, he used the C.P. Electronic pH meter, which proved the values to be exactiy as the formula had predicted, so now I was a little more confident in getting nearer the proper result. But sadly, NOT QUIT. But at last I got rid of any sign of green cast and although the film looked somewhat dense the more normal frames showed that the colours were very good. So I am pleased to say that I am now Very close to my goal: just a bit more experimenting.
