EDITORIAL

With the Christmas. Turkey and the New Year ‘brew’ just a pleasant memory - the C.R.C. Committee all hope that you have had a very happy festive season,. We start the new year with quite a full Committee and we also Welcome YOUR new.. Publicity Officer, Toriy Chuter, who has. already mentioned numerous’ ideas he would like to ‘try in getting the Club known to more people. We look forward to seeing, the outcome and wish Tony every success.

In this 16 page issue, you will find much of interest and some very useful information The CP electronic pH meter and the ‘Blue Light’ Lamp appears to be a couple of very interesting items to go for end will assist you towards some consistent results, There is some doubts as to the need for a pH meter, ‘but for ‘weighers  & mixers particularly, it is being proved that by getting the pH values of the two developers right in the first place, plays a. big part in the overall results of your transparencies, The Blue Lamp has an ideal colour balance not only for viewing your colour prints in the darkroom, ‘but  is an ideal light source when using a ‘slide copier. I would consider too that: this issue gives you all the necessary information, about the effects of pH on your made up. Chemicals. Remember, if you. wish to take advantage of the pH meter offer, write to your Area Leader as soon as possible so. that he can pass on your order for maximurn reductions.

The Annual Open Meeting at Didcot (and AGM) is hoped to take place on Sunday 31st of. May 1987. But this hasn’t been confirmed by the BR Staff Club up to. this point, ‘so please watch the April Newsletter for any change. Whatever, we will be reverting to the 2pm start and ask members who arrive too early to please be patient and use the car park with consideration that the Staff Club closes at this time and may be a bit busy until around 2.15. As our Secretary has mentioned on page one, to give everyone a chance to show their work, please keen slides within a 15 minute timing or to a 36 exp cassette size Once all have been shown you may still have another chance to show more of your slides with time allowing.

Bert Sanders hopes to start a National Slide Competition and would like to hear from anyone who would like to help. Likewise Tony Chuter would like to hear from you and to hear any views and ideas you may have on gaining publicity for the Club.

Your Editor, too, finds longish periods when there is little or no copy at hand, so we complete this Newsletter by wishing you all a most prosperous New Year and please don’t forget to send in those news and views.
