IT'S THE MOST FUN YOU CAN HAVE
 WITH YOUR CLOTHES ON...

From the Scottish Photographic Federation`s magazine, with  thanks to Editor Ian Lang for allowing its use.

Following the arrival of the terrific news that Maurice Dobson is picking up the gauntlet and continuing the series of
 Audio-Visual Workshops/Performance days, call them what you will. I thought I might bring you a little something from
 the pages of "Back Projection"
..... but most thanks to the man who first seized the oriflamme in the 1940`s and carried it
 high on our behalf ever since: good friend, good critic, support and inspiration to all who know him -
Michael Ticker FRPS FRSA.

 A-V or not A-V, that is the question:
Whether `tis nobler in the end to suffer
 The slings and arrows of outrages boredom,
 Or to take arms against a sea of visuals,
And by opposing mend them?
To try,to keep  the mis-takes
And the thousand nature shots
That flash is heir to: Oh, a conflagration`s
 Devoutly to be wished.
To cry, to weep, to sleep: perchance to scream.
Ay, there`s the club who`s members in a
Dark seance inflict upon a weary throng
A sleep of death that urges us to
Shuffle from this awful toil.
For who can bear the quips; the scorns of time;
The projector`s wrongs; the long delays;
The pangs of un-prized ones lamenting
The jury`s insolence of office who merit
To the unworthy give?
And un-discerning countries from whose bournes
Most travellers return with skills unsung,
makes us rather bear those fools we have
Than fly to others that we know naught of.
Thus A-V doth make cowards of us all
Who lack ideas and  bright imagination.
And enterprizes of mere slick technique
Are sicklied o`er with my recurring doubts
And lose the name of entertainment.
