PERSONAL THANKS

Brian Savage
at Worcester Committee Meeting

Since the day I took on as C.R.C. Editor (20 years, this year) I have appreciated and enjoyed the friendship and help given to me by Brian Savage, who, at that time, along with myself, had taken on as C.R.C. Secretary in a period when it looked as if the C.R.C. was as good as finished, after the previous Editor & Secretary gave up. The x Secretary then going on to become involved in another more localised C.R. Club.

Without Brian’s help and dedication to his position I don’t think I would have been able to take on the Editorial and make any success of it, but over the years Brian went on to serve the Club as Secretary, Committee member, Technical Adviser and Co-ordinator of the then, Area 14 of the C.R.C. Everyone on the E. C. enjoyed the twice a year Committee Meetings which Brian organised in Worcester.

Brian never missed an A.G.M. & Open Meeting that was held at Didcot and also at Repton and has been a great stalwart to the Club, and as I say, showed considerable friendship and assistance to myself over the years.

My very sincere thanks and Best Wishes go to Brian in his retirement from work and now joining the rank and file of the C.R.C. membership. I am sure he will continue to take interest in the club and it’s future.

Our thanks too, must go to Geoff Lowe who did a great job as Committee Member and helping pull the changes to the C.R.C. Constitution together and updating everything. Great work, Geoff. Our thanks and good wishes go with you.

OPEN DAY REPORT

For the 30th Anniversary of the C.R.C. and the 2001 A.G.M. & Open Meeting we were taken to Briston, which is a pretty little village in Norfolk, just to the north of Melton Constable.

The meeting was held at the Village hall and nursery school. It made for a very pleasant venue and well suited to the projection of slides, after Kevin and Bill Reid spent a little time blacking the windows out. Refreshments provided by Sandra Craske greeted members as they arrived and proved welcome throughout the day.

The AGM has already been covered therefore requires no further comment. Around the main hall members had set up various Print and Slide exhibits. John Pearle’s medium format slides and Silver Image prints, Mike Puttick of Area 3 and Derick Foster (Area 9) displayed some very nice Digital Image prints from their home processed CRC Film.

Eric & Mike Deeming (Area 9) exhibited their slide copying set-up, using the screen material by Ashworth. Examples of their work can be seen on page 10.

Kevin and Margary Maskell (Area 13) gave an excellent talk and display of their Digital Image Prints which, again, were from original home processed slides and proved why they have won so many awards for their fine work. Their large number of full sized prints were well presented on a specially made wooden stand with excellent top lighting. Together they presented and changed the prints making the presentation appear like a manually-operated AV show.

Kevin Craske presented a very worthy AV programme set in and around Disneyland Paris, with a sleek and well syncronised four-projector set-up, controlled by computer. There was a riot of colour and the well chosen sounds came from computer mp3 files that were downloaded from the internet. Kevin had also made an excellent wooden stand for the projectors and computer components and he had also made the large Screen from photographic studio background paper.

The final slide presentation was a randomly selected group of holiday slides taken in and around Aberdeen. A grand day all round with thanks to Kevin and Sandra for all their hard work.
