the hills of South Uist as a backdrop.
The airport at Eolegary (North Bay) is in fact a natural Cockelshell beach. Before planes arrive the beach is leveled by tractors and seagulls and cattle are scared off. It is quite a sight watching the tiny Trilander circle around his fine bay and over the low lying mountains and making a perfect landing on the beach.
Above: A moment of hussle & bussle as passengers alight and friends and family greet them. The postal van also acts as a taxi, which does a complete circle of the Island before reaching Castlebay.
