First, my apologies for a late CRCN. Apart from the usual excuses this time I had problems with my computer when it kept freezing up and having to start a page or two from fresh, then I had a failed save which completely crashed the main CRCN DTP file and I had to start the whole newsletter from scratch just when it should have been off to Roy for printing. Computers are great inventions but when they crash they become just another heap of useless junk!!!
We open this issue by giving our grateful thanks to Glyn Willicombe for the many years he has given to producing excellent CRC Slide Postal Folios, which the long-time folio members will agree has been very enjoyable. While Glyn has a well deserved rest the Folio continues under the capable hands of Dave and Eric Deeming. See page 5 for further details.
Newsletter copy continues to be difficult to find, especially from other members. In this issue there are only two articles by yourselves, Brian’s regular Cobbler’s Page and Dennis O’Connor’s article on Medium Format. The rest is by Roy and myself. WE really do require more input from the membership and my article on the Isle of Barra proves how any of you must have enough transparencies to compose something on similar lines. The subject matter is up to yourselves but this is something you can consider over the winter months when your
photography and processing is at a lull. There is no time limit on the age of the transparencies that you use. Please give this some thought over the coming weeks.
Roy’s articles, Natural Light and Film From the Good Old Days are other interesting presentations which, while helping to inform those who may just be starting out on their hobby, may indeed also give a little refresher for those who tend to take it all a bit for granted, these days.
My own photography has suffered badly this year due to lack of time but I am now stocked up with some film and looking forward to my late annual leave and searching for some autumn colour and, of course, carrying out some processing on return, which may produce some useful pictures for the next
CRCN. |
