THE VILLAIN OF THE PEACE
IS THE COLOUR DEVELOPER

(Page Two)

It was by altering the pH of the First Developer.

Oh. By the way. ‘My results’ are VERY good. Or so I think. Anyway all I ask is that you give it a try. You wont be sorry.

The formula I used was:-

Dl                                                                                 CoIour Developer.
Sod. Sulphite (Anhyd)                  36.0 gms.           Sod. Sulphite (Anhyd)                         9.0 gms.
Hydroquinone                                 7.0 gms.            Trisodium Phosphate 12H20             30.0 gms.
Phenidone                                      0.25 gms.            Pot. Bromide 10%                                   3.0 mls.
Pot Thiocyanate 20%                    12 0 mis.            Pot. Iodide 0.l%                                    10.0 mls.
Pot. Brorn. 10%                               15.0 mis.           Citrazinic’Acid                                       0.4 gms.
Pot Iodide 0.1%                                6  mins.            Sod. Hydroxide 10%                          30/32 mls.
Benzotriozaie 1%’                           0.0 mins.           Water to                                                1000 mls.
Water to                                          1000 mls.

I used a pH of both 9 3 and                                     Before use add CD3. 11.5gms per litre.
9.4. using either 1g Sod.                                          Adjust pH to 11.4 with either  Borax (9.4).
Metarborate  9.3 or 30g                                            Sodium Hydroxide or Sulphuric Acid

First Developer     8 minutes at 100F                        Colour Dev.        7. minutes at 100F.

These figures are ones I used and gave splendid results. Other workers may need to adjust to their own liking. The formula and pH values, here are the ones H used for Konica.

How many members knew- or realised - that there is still one, more combination of the Barfen/CRX/Sakura/Konica saga. To those who did I apologise. To those who didn’t it’s Ilford who have joined the fray. Yes their Ilfochrome is simply Konica Chrome 100.

So if you prefer the Ilford box - all white and clean looking - to the much more colourful Konica package... it’ll cost you 34p more. But the contents you’ll get will be precisely the same.

CORRECTIONS

Ron Croad writes to apologise for sending the wrong pH values to his E 6 formula as reported in the July Newsletter, page 3 Please note the corrections.

                First Developer              =               9.6pH

Colour Developer          =            11 75pH

We hope that this didn’t cause any inconvenience to members Ron also adds “ In the Bleach bath both the Sodium Mono Sodium Phosphate are the crystalline form (one was written as anhyd.).
