CD2 Area 20.
Glyn Willicombe, of Porlock, has carried out tests with Fuji 100 using CD2 colour agent. The results were fairly close to those achieved with CD3. Glyn developed strips of film in 4 exposure lengths using 5gms; 10gms; 12½gms and 15gms plus a control strip.

There was a noticeable increase in the magenta cast as the volume of CD2 got larger. The tests show that acceptable results are within reach!

Ron Croad has come up some good Konica slides using the formula which will be in the Handbook. Look out for these slides at the Didcot Meeting.

X-RAYS & CIBACHROME Area 26.
John Wilson of Co. Dublin recently wrote to the Secretary. He points out the difficulty he faces in obtaining sensitized materials. For reasons of security, it all has to be passed through the dreaded X-Ray machine, so he waits until a friend comes to England to pick up the supplies. He says that he could also do with some advice on the processing of Cibachrome. How can he get rid of excess contrasts and also reduce the exhorbitant costs? Advice to the Secretary, please, who will pass it on.

NIMSLO & TESTS ON FIRST DEVELOPER Area 22.
Some experimental work has been carried out recently by Graham Dixon under two headings. He has adapted a Nimslo Camera for 3-D use by modifying it so that only the outer two of the four lenses are used and has obtained some very satisfactory results on black & White film. No doubt there will be some 3D slides from the Nimslo before long. The second project was to obtain a satisfactory low contrast first developer. Graham started with an alleged low contrast developer employing Metol and Hydroquinone which appears to have minimal effect. Several tests were made using a colour chart which included grey scale, then using the first developer with less and less Hydroquinone until the F.D. contained only Metol as developing agent. Theoretically, this should have resulted in progressively softer slides since Hydroquinone provides high contrast and Metol alone is regarded as a low contrast developer. However, there was no significant contrast reduction. It was as though the contrast was fixed in the film! The final results, he says, was similar to that obtained with his tried and trusted formula exept that the colour balance was very neutral.

ZENITH COLOUR CAMERA
My Lomo was given it`s first try-out on a short holiday to the West Country with colour print film. The results were very satisfactory so I took my camera on holiday to Lazarote in November, again with colour print film. I took my slide shots on my trusty Nikkormat, 90% through a 28mm wide angle, and returned with nearly 5 36 exposure reels. I like to use a reel or two of print film on holiday so as to have an instantly available set of pictures. A second camera body is a bit cumbersome and involves lens changing and I found that shooting a reel of print film in between reels of slides isn`t the answer, so the very pocketable Lomo with a 32mm lens proved ideal. The prints were very sharp and all very well exposed exept where a very high contrast subject defeated the film as it would in any camera. But how would it cope with slide film? I haven`t tried this so far as I want to retain the greater flexibility given by an SLR that I require for slide film.

WHAT COLOUR IS YOUR STAIN? Area 13.
I am investigating the cause of stain in the blank leader. Can members please forward to me any blank leader that they may may have, together with the following information:

(1) name of film
(2) Developing process:
(3) Name of company if developed by a trade processor and whether a Fuji or Kodak maintained Lab.
(4) If kit processed, the name of the kit:
(5) If home processed, the name of the process and the bleach composition. So far, from my own observations, only a trade processed film succeeds in obtaining a clear leader. I would like samples of Photocolour Respecially as the one film, Ektachrome, processed by A. Rose, their demonstrator, had a pink cast. He had the cheek to tell me it was in the film base. I had a film (Ektachrome) processed by ARC Processors and this was a beautiful clear film. The moral is ? ? Please help me to find the answer. 3. Ayres Close, Gidea Park, Romford, Essex, RM2 6AR.

DESPERATELY SEEKING SUPPLIER
Ever since the Club started Oliver barron has been supplying chemicals to members. Unfortunately, he finds that he will not be able to continue to offer this service to us. If anybody feels they could take over this very important function would they please contact either Oliver or Ron Croad.
