EDITORIAL The Executive Committee hope that you are pleased with the new format of your Newsletter. We considered that we had come to the limits of the Wax Stencil and Duplicator. From a meeting with our stationery supplier, Barrie Angell, of Osprey Printers Ltd. Reading. Berks. it was suggested that changing the format to A5 size and printing would be worth trying. The Executive Committee agreed on a years trial. It opens up a new horizon for us as we can use maps, drawings and diagrams etc, including black and white prints, though prints will be at extra cost and used only when required with appropriate copy. Diagrams can also be made up using Red - Blue & Green colours, again at extra cost. It has been quite a task working on the new issue and certainly not something that should be left to just one person as a continuous effort. If you can draw, sketch or design anything of interest please get in touch. Possibly you could do a few cartoons or something that would add interest and help presentation. WE are sorry that we cannot offer payment but hope that you will share your skills in the interest and well being of the Club. The new costs will dig into our resources but it is hoped a few adverts will help to keep subscriptions as at present. I`m sure holding them at £3.50 for over five years now must be a bit of a record. DIDCOT OPEN MEETING 1988 Don`t forget that plans are in hand for next years meeting and it is hoped to improve this in a number of ways. We have has some offers of A/V and Widescreen slides and some Cibachrome prints, but need to hear from more of you. Already four months have passed since the last meeting and it will soon come around again. Other ideas are for a programme to be enclosed with the April N/L and to have the `buffet` open throughout the day so that you may have refreshments whenever you wish, with set times for the slide shows. But you must let me know who is putting on what well before hand (Like yesterday!) and I would appreciate hearing form you. It is planned to have the usual `Sales stand` but also space for you to bring along pieces of equipment you may wish to sell, so please look out anything you may think useful to others, Label it with your name and the price and bring it with you. The Club can only be as good as YOU make it and the more people who help the less one individual will have to do. CONTENTS
In this issue we have a new page by Susan
Croad giving news from around the Areas. John Robb explains the method of
'Retouching' Colour Slides that is most interesting. Bert Sanders brings
us back to 'basics' with a series of 'Technique' that even long-in-tooth
won't mind reminding. Bob Lewis explains what 'DX' Coding is all about and
how to fool your 'DX' Camera into operating with none `DX` reloading cassettes.
There is an official Kodak E-7 Formula with processing details from Konica,
for their Konicachrome 100 film. There is a LETTER page where you can air
your news and views and little grumbles. Plus other items of interest. My
efforts at design are a bit limited, hence my request for your help. My address
is at the back so please let me know what you may be able to do to help. |
