FEED-BACK, MACRO ON THE CHEAP |
EDITORIAL MAJOR PEARLE The contribution to the Club & Home Processing, given by Major, his wife, Rita, and son, John was a rare experience. From the Sun Spotter which gives the exact area and time to set your camera up and a Spot Meter circuit, to get the perfect `Sunset` exposure. Making developing tanks, and telephoto lenses from discarded plastic drain-pipes to perfecting Agfa 50RS Formulae and Cibachrome printing. Major`s enthusiasm was endless, in spite of suffering serious eyesight and walking difficulties, for some years. In April, While out for a drive with the family, Major passed away suddenly and without comment, a very peaceful end, but a very sad loss. Our condolences and best wishes go to Rita and John. AREA 13 LOSS Brian Murphy (Area 15) reports the death of Guy Glassock of Rayleigh, Essex (Area 13). Guy joined the Club in 1976. After Brian requested assistance, through the Newsletter, Guy answered and over a period began friendly communications. One day an unexpected parcel arrived which included, says Brian " A Bulk Film Loader, A Bellows Unit, a 50mm/M42 lens and thermometer, a small Russian Compact camera and various text books". "Even now I can`t believe his generosity! Contacts like this are very sadly missed". A letter has gone to Guy`s wife, Evelyn, and family on behalf of the Club, with condolences and best wishes. PHOTO ALLIANCE MEMBERSHIP The Club is now a member of the Photo Alliance, which gives us a very wide field for extra publicity. Already I have had a P.O. member request to use a piece of CRC copy for another magazine and the publicity is very welcome. It also means that members can take part in the many facilities on offer, such as Slide & Print Folio`s and competitions. Full details from our Hon. Chairman, Pete Guy and where possible, from the pages of this newsletter. We hope that members will take advantage of this new service and find great enjoyment from it. PUBLICITY & PRINTING As you will read, a new bout of of publicity is in progress. We have had one new member and two enquiries from an advert in the RPS publications, the leaflet `stuffer` adverts are in circulation and we shall gain some publicity from membership to the Photographic Alliance. It wasn`t possible to to get the new Laser printer in time to produce this issue, but a model has been chosen and discussions with the Treasurer will hopefully get things up and running in time for the October Newsletter. My desktop Publishing programme has already been up-rated to use better quality fonts and you may notice the difference as they have been used used in this issue and it has improved the dot-matrix printing. You will really notice the difference when using the new laser printer. CLUB HANDBOOK RE-PRINT This has now been fully up-dated with extra pages of information. You should receive your copy along with this Newsletter. |
