EDITORIAL
This has been an interesting period (Club
wise). While things looked a bit bleak for a while WE have managed to form
a complete Committee and they are getting stuck in to sorting out the direction
the Club is to take into the new Millennium. Of course, we do need YOUR views
and I hope that you will consider everything that the E.C. put to us and
help keep the Club going as a very useful and indeed, a very 'unique' service
to Colour Reversal Processing.
No other Club or group who dedicate themselves to this side
of photography and it would be a sad loss if it was lost. Sadly we have lost
a few members due to the uncertainty of the past year or so. However WE have
also gained members, and especially so, because of our use of the Internet
which opens publicity World Wide. There is certainly no lack of interest
in Home Processing and the Club has much to offer, but WE do have to try
and become a little more active individually and exchange views with the
Executive Committee and in particularly, with the Editor and create regular
copy on our activities so that others are encouraged both to learn from our
experiences and feel the club is to worth their continued membership. New
members will not have read the many years of material that most of us have
and while WE may feel we have have reached our 'goal' as far as processing
is concerned, these members will appreciate knowing about your road to perfecting
your photography and processing. Therefore a piece of copy in the Newsletters
will help bring them up to date. I had a good response for copy after the
April AGM but that has now been used up so would appreciate anything you
may have to send in.
The Didcot Open Meeting is upon us and takes place on Sunday
17th of October . Hopefully this is enough notice to encourage you to come
along and present your latest Slide and Print work. There is no set programme
therefore the day depends on whatever each member brings along. I look forward
to seeing as many of you as is possible.
Inside, we have some very interesting articles (nothing
about DI!) Once you have read about the financial state of the Club and who
does what, you will find out about the mysteries of those DX markings on
cassettes from John Pearle. Followed by two colourful articles. Margary Maskell
explains her trials on photographing her Coon Kittens while Bill Broadbent
has a strange meeting with a load of 'Bull'. My special thanks to Kevin Craske
for allowing us the use of good quality colour pictures. The print was taken
from a magazine simply to demonstrate the article.
On E6 the Rev. Ron Hatful gives some useful advice while
processing. Then I extol my latest processing with a Jessop VE6 Kit when
both film exposures and the Kit were reaching their sell-by date.
The main feature is an interesting article by Dennis O'Connor
with diagrams for making his "Zone Gauge System", so altogether quite a good
mixture of interest.
This is another piece of copy received via the Internet.
The graphics were composed in Microsoft Powerpoint which I was able to use
directly. The ease and speed of this system is greatly appreciated while
composing your Newsletters. With your continued and increased help WE can
storm the modern threat to our Club and hobby. This is the final issue of
THIS millennium with your help we shall continue well into the NEXT
Century. |
