LETTER TO THE EDITOR

I`m sorry we couldn`t get to Didcot for the meeting on the 12th. Oct. and hope there were several people who did make it and hope that you had an enjoyable meeting.

We have just been to Southend-on-Sea for the pre-view of their 37th. Exhibition of Photographs - `Salon of Photography` they call it. Pete Guy gave us a couple of entry forms at Repton and we sent in some slides and to our surprise we got four of them accepted, and an invitation to the awards ceremony. We didn`t get an award, but had no idea of the standards excepted and were surprised to find that it was a country-wide entry, and nearly all the entrants had lots of letters after their names.

There were some beautiful prints there and we enjoyed seeing how they  were mounted and presented. It has certainly given us more confidence and a bit of encouragement to get more prints done.

We have been busy putting all our slides on to the computer. Not in a pictorial sense, but just numbering them and adding a few guide words of description so that the computer will be able to sort out the landscapes from the sunsets etc. We have done over 2,000 and think we are about half way there! Its a long job. I hope we shall be able to spend the longer winter evenings doing more prints.
