SECRETARY' S NOTES
For those of you who want a new aim to your photographic efforts, I hope that this issue's Handbook supplement will fit the bill. For a long time my own efforts have almost stood still while I used processing methods which were thought up to cope with the E4 Process of the 70's. The new E6 formula is super. Half a dozen of our enthusiastic members have tried out the formula printed and have had probably their best processing results ever. At first glance the developers look very different with lots of Acid balanced with lots of hydroxide. When you get down to mixing it is little different from what we are used to. Processing is straight forward and casts seem to be none existent.
If any member doesn't have a balance contacts me I have a very neat small scale and weights to go to a deserving cause.
SRB's ordering system. (No longer relevant).
TFM Photographic known to us as Kevin & Sandra Craske of Area 9 have recently published a new price list of the items they stock. If you want good slide mounts, cotton gloves, toners, slide boxes, and many other items for the darkroom TFM will be glad to supply you. Their address is in the Handbook.
Did any of you see a recent TV programme about Heather Angel. One of the things that sticks in my mind apart from the superb Natural History Slides she produced is that she has taken 14000 exposures in the last year or two. She thought that far too many photographers spent a fortune on their cameras and then were too miserly with their film. As she pointed out you cannot get a lot of good slides if you only take the odd exposure. It makes sense doesn`t it.
We have come once again to the time when subscriptions have to be renewed. Our year starts in April and we would ask you to renew by then. In 1988 the Treasurer was still receiving subs. in November. This is causing us problems which could mean a change in the collection system in 1990. Please help to solve this problem by renewing with your Area Leader, promptly.
Ron.
