SECRETARY'S NOTES

This set of my notes contains both good news and bad news. In time honoured fashion the bad news had better come first. 3M have raised their film prices 20-25% due to Technological improvements and rising costs. The new prices are to be found elsewhere in the Newsletter. The rise is not too bad when you discover what other manufacturers charge for processed paid film. I had a shock when a friend brought round an auto camera and asked me to check the film speed. He had put in a 24 exp. Kodachrome and it had cost him £5.75. It was heart breaking to tell him it was no good as his auto camera`s lowest speed rating was 100asa and it had read the DX Coding on his 25asa film and could not cope.

Now for the good news. 3M want to start a Slide Library and would like the help of CRC members to do so. They require 300 slides so that they can can compile AV shows for use during exhibitions.

The slides are wanted on permanent loan, but members would keep the Copyright of the slides. If any are used for magazine advertising a fee would be negotiated with the member who owns the slide.

For each slide accepted for the bank 3M will give a free film of the member`s choice.

All slides for consideration should be sent in the first place to me at the above address. Please put your name and title on the slide. 3M need a wide variety of subjects to be covered, from portraits to sport. Please only send in good colourful slides. If you see a colourful subject take two shots instead of one then you wont deprived yourself of your best slides.

Don`t think your efforts will not be good enough as I recently sent in a dozen slides as a trial and 3M accepted ten of them to get the sceme started. One last thing - the slides must obviously be on 3M film stock, and they look best developed in the latest club formula. Best of luck!!!

The sales of chemicals for the new formula have been terrific. In one week I sent off nearly £200.00 pounds worth. So far three members have written me to say they have had very good results from the new brew. One has just sent me some of the best Konica slides I`ve ever seen.

Konica Bulk 30m tins of film must be the best bargain around by a long way. At the CRC price they are about half the price of all the major competitors and quality when developed in the brew in the Newsletter is first class.

Ron.
