EDITORIAL

This has been a very interesting period for the Club, albeit a very quiet one in regards correspondence. Thanks to the continuing efforts by Ron Croad we now have an excellent service to offer by way of Film, Chemical sales and the new formula which looks like taking off in a big way. I have deliberately kept my editorial brief so that Ron can give you the full details of all the changes and benefits the Club is enjoying.

Thanks to everyone who has already renewed their 1989 subscriptions, but for those who haven`t, please attend to this as soon as possible.

My main comment this quarter is in reminding you that the AGM is fast approaching. Please note the date - Sunday 23rd of April at the usual venue at B.R.Staff Club in Station Road, Didcot (120 years from Station). A full working programme will be handed out on arrival as full details are not yet settled. However along with Stalls and Print Exhibits it is hoped to show some 3-D slides and Widescreen 16mm cine. The day starts at 12 noon until appx. 6pm. If you require further information please drop me a line or phone. See page 13 for more details. Please do all you can to come along and support us.

LATEST FILM AND CHEMICAL NEWS

One of our members recently remarked that for the first time since it was formed the Colour Reversal Club had made a breakthrough with film, chemical and processing. It gives one a pleasant feeling of confidence to spend time on the composition because you know the film and processing is going to give you good results.

There are several factors which have led to this very desirable state of affairs. The first change is in the film manufacture. 3M have recently increased the price of their products and this will make a slight difference in the price we pay. Full details of the increase are mentioned else where in the newsletter so I shan`t harp on here. What is more important is what you are getting for your money.

The film has had a name change it is now Scotch Chrome and is available in 100asa; 400asa; 640asa Tungsten and 800-3200asa. I have also been able to get 1000asa type but it is not in the brochure and may not be available for long. The key feature of the new film are as follows:-

NEW EMULSION FORMATION giving improved stability throughout the film`s life.

NEW UV FILTER for improved exposure characteristics and superior colour redention.

NEW COUPLER FORMATION which gives better colour saturation and better colour processing capability particularly in marginal bleach conditions.
