SECRETARY'S NOTES

You are having an Autumn break. It is to me one of the high spots of the year when the colours of the foliage turn to shades of red, gold and brown. Sue and I are aiming to shoot off a lot of film in the next fortnight in the Lake District and we are hoping that the weather will hold on.

TFor many of us the holidays are over until next Spring. However, it is obvious from correspondence that comes my way that an increasing number of he film situation is beginning to sort itself out. One of our members wanted a 30 rolls of 3M 100 iso and so I felt that I was able to order the minimum 50 rolls. We now have 20 rolls left in stock, so please let me know if you want any. Please note that it is only the 100 iso type. If any one would like to combine with a friend for an order of say 25 or more of the same type, then please do so. It will then be easy for me to order some more.

Stocks of Konica should be back to normal at the beginning of October. In the current issue of Amateur Photographer there is a press release to the effect that Konica want to push up the sales of slide film in Japan. They are going to market 50, 100, 200 and 1000 iso film. This film is claimed to offer outstanding image quality due to well balanced combination of granularity, sharpness, colour redention gradation and highly saturated colour development`. The film is now on sale in Japan and I have written to Konica to try and find out what plans for Britain are.

In the last issue of the Newsletter a copy of the CRC Formula was printed. I have since been taken to task for not explaining why it went in and why there was a change in the pH of the developers. The answer is simple. The formula was a personal copy with the new weights for the 300ml units I now have to use with my Paterson tanks. The pH values are the ones that I have always used and they are the ones that Konica recommend. They have always served me well. The pH values on the previously printed formula are those recommended by the team that got the Club formula to work. So there you are. No mystery, only Bill short of copy I suspect.

Which brings me to the next point. Bill does need copy. Many of you do interesting things, such as coast to coast walks, visits to exotic places, interesting experiments with film and paper. How about a page, or more, so that we can all get inspired. Go on - the newsletter relies on you.

Ron.
