SECRETARY' S NOTES
Most important matter at the moment is that two Area Co-ordinators are giving up their office after long service. Eric Weatherill
of Area 11 and Eric Clark of Area 17. Both have appealed for a successor with out much response, a very disappointing state of affairs. If no one in the Areas comes forward then I am afraid the Committee will have to try and enlarge other groups and Areas 11 & 17 will die.
The lack of volunteers seems very unfortunate - there is not a lot of work involved. Sending out Newsletters and collecting subscriptions are the main things. While some Co-ordinators also circulate an Area Newsletter and others also run their own meetings and outings. There is plenty of scope for a person to hold the group together.
So don`t be shy - there is not of time involved - just as much as you wish to give. There are Technical Officers in the Club to give you advice on those matters so that should not put you off. Offers to Eric Clark or Eric Weatherill, PLEASE.
Internews will not appear this quarter as Bill the Editor is waiting for this copy. We had our lives disrupted since Christmas when our hot-air heating stem broke down. We found that it was obsolete and parts were hard to get. It happened just after builders started to erect a new large garage. At one time we had 7 men working in and around the house. It was chaos. We now have a super Gas Central Heating system and a garage big enough to hold the car, trailer tent and the Club chemicals. Thanks to all the patient members who have waited longer than usual for their
supplies.
While on the subject of supplies, we have plenty of film now in stock so there is no need to phone before ordering. Details of stock in Newsletter.
If you use a lot of Paterson, Photax or Photocolour items it might pay to get in a few spares while they are still around. As they are in the hands of the Receiver, they may disappear if he cannot find a buyer. Between them they have been responsible for the many items we use. I only hope that a person with an interest in photography buys them, and keeps their products on the market.
Made in Germany/Japan/ Taiwan. For many years the worlds best cameras came from Germany. The Japanese increased their quality control and undercut the Germans to take over the bulk of the market. Now the Japanese labour costs are the highest in the world. All the worlds compact cameras - and they outsell SLR`s - are made in various Far Eastern Countries. Canon are shortly to move production of all but 2 of it`s SLR`s to Taiwan. Makes you think.
All The Best.
